The Judges

* Champion's Tournament * CT Rules * Contestants *

Here is a list of those individuals who will be judging your role-playing abilities. Although they are all listed here, you will not be informed of who is judging your individual matches. All judges are asked to be objective when deciding the winner of each match-up; as such we will try and keep any judge from having to evaluate the performance of anyone they openly friends with, or anyone they are known to severely dislike.

2006-01-12 [iippo]: This is not a popularity contest so if you have made enemies (or friends) with a certain judge/s, they will not be the ones to judge you. This is about role-playing. True enough, disrespecting trouble-making participants will get disqualified if they can't behave, but that's general ET-rule so it's obvious.

2006-01-12 [Gluttony]: But... if my enemies don't judge me... there's no one left to judge...

2006-01-12 [iippo]: I don't even know you (unless you've changed your name from something). Sides we have council and assembly members in our crew here -- they are smart enough to put petty arguments aside and judge fairly. It's PR and those in the crew know enough of ET PR to be fair and not vengeful.

2006-01-12 [iippo]: *checks bio* Ah. You. XD

2006-01-12 [Gluttony]: ...exactly...

2006-01-12 [iippo]: Don't worry.

2006-01-13 [Elwyne]: Ok, I have a question if someone wouldn't mind answering it. Does a Hobbit/Halfling count as a fan character. My favorite and most well built character thus far is a hobbit...

2006-01-13 [Veltzeh]: Well, if it's specifically a hobbit, then I'd say it's a fan character since hobbit is a term quite attached to Tolkien's stuff. If you say it's a halfling, then I doubt it would be a fan character unless it lives in Shire or something. X)

2006-01-13 [iippo]: Fan characters are allowed. It can be a hobbit (just dont say the word, say halfling or hurthling) that lives in Shire (just dont mention the place name). Basically a character that would fit a pre-made published worls is ok -- you just can't use words that are specific to that world. So no mention of Shire, Middle-Earth, the One Ring, etc. Just as Star Wars fan chars can't mention words like jedi or light saber. So basically you need to get more creative in wordings and trying indirectly say what you want to say, if you use a fanworld based charatcer.

2006-01-14 [Aradon Templar]: I volunteer to judge Mr. Narrator. I don't really feel inclined to even dislike him, at the moment. I feel confident I can grade him impartially, so if you really can't find someone who doesn't even know Mr. Narrator, I'll do it.

2006-01-14 [Elwyne]: thanks for the advice, I've called her a halfling before but in the books the hobbits tended to call themselves hobbits and elves and the other races tended to call them halflings cuz they were "half-sized" But I'll call her a halfling, and submit 3 characters... although I think none would be considered fan characters, they did have a slight inspiration from other books, I just warped them a whole lot after the initial inspiration. I hope that's ok.

2006-01-14 [windowframe]: As long as they're not total rips (as in, name stolen, appearance stolen, personality largly stolen and altered slightly) It's fine.

2006-01-14 [iippo]: *deleted*

2006-01-14 [Duredhel]: might not want to say that in a public page >_<, a problem is a lot of people who complain might have bad charries, so when they get bad scores, they'll be all "AHA! the judges were out to get me!"

2006-01-14 [Aradon Templar]: Say what on a public page? :D *innocent look* We'd just have to tell them that it is an official contest. Judges aren't out to get anyone, they're out to be impartial. That's why there're so freakin many of them :P

2006-01-15 [Nebka]: Alright, Here's a question. What's the critirea that you'll be judging us on?(I wish I could spell.)

2006-01-15 [windowframe]: That's classified information :) Sorry, we're not telling you, iippo says it far more fluently than I, but the gist of is it, we don't want to interfere with your creative processes, Just like in art contests, they don't give you tips on 'this style of drawing is more likely to win than this one'. Use your common sense, and you'll do okay :)

2006-01-15 [Nebka]: meh, it was worth a shot.

2006-01-17 [Stephen]: Now, I'm wondering, will you guys be judging a bio with a character picture the same as a bio without? I can create in-depth bios, but pictures kill me. :s

2006-01-17 [Veltzeh]: Yes, they will be judged the same.
